This is the completed quilt top with all three borders.  It will hang on the design wall while I try to decide how to quilt it.  After taking a free motion quilt class and continued practice... I seriously dislike the technique.  So,  straight lines and soft curves are what I will be looking to use to complete the quilt.

Warm Woolie Baskets - April 28

The past week I have only had time to work on the Warm Woolie Baskets quilt.  The photo shows my progress... there are two more borders to add.  The quilt is coming together quite nicely.

The Woolie Baskets quilt is coming along great.  All of the basket blocks use a different fabric -- all are from Maywood Woolies.

Use caution with this pattern. Although I posted the name of the pattern as "One's Done, Another's Begun", I actually used the older pattern in "Folk Art with Heart"... same designer, same pattern, different fabrics.  As I started cutting for the setting triangles, I realized that the instructions have you cut so that the side and corner setting triangles have your fabric on the bias on the outer edge.    Be sure to modify your cutting to take care of this pattern error.  In all fairness, I don't know if the newer pattern has been corrected.

It is time to start a new quilt -- this is a photo that is published at the website for the designer of both the fabric and the quilt design, Bonnie Sullivan.  Since the last quilt I made was from the same pattern, the "left over" fabrics and half-square triangles from the Woolie Churn Dash  are a great start for the basket quilt.  My plan is to go bigger with a layout that will be 5 by 6 and possibly 5 by 7 if I have enough fabric.

Bonnie Sullivan is the designer of this pattern - One's Done, Another's Begun - and the beautiful fabrics used to make it.  The fabrics are called Woolies and are produced by Maywood -- in my opinion the best flannel on the market. 

This clever idea utilizes the "scraps" from one quilt as the start for another quilt.  As you prepare the Churn Dash quilt, the left over triangles become a great start for the baskets of the quilt pattern Simply Baskets.   If this looks familiar, it could be because these patterns were originally published in the book "Folk Art with Heart" -- they appear as Woolie Churn Dash and Warm Woolie Baskets.
